Queen Nicki Minaj teased via Instagram that she had something cooking up for the Barbz that was dropping today, May 14 at 12:00 A.M and per usual, she delivered.
The New York rapper has been on hiatus for months now, doing the whole mother thing. However, the Barbz are becoming impatient with this break and have been demanding for the queen to make her return to hip hop culture. Fans are concerned about the new album, a follow-up to Queen, the album shared back in 2018. Although Nicki has been reluctant to answer any questions concerning an album, she’s positive this new drop will cure the fans Appetit for a little while.
A few minutes before midnight Nicki went live on Instagram to chat it up with the Barbz and give a little insight on her life during her semi-retirement. Nicki also revealed that her big news was the release of her old 2009 mixtape ” Bean Me Up Scotty” to all streaming platforms. Considering that this project is the reason for her fame and success today, what better way to feed the culture than by re-releasing the music for streaming services.
Of course that wasn’t the only surprise. The “Yikes” rapper added three new never heard songs onto the mixtape for her fans. Tracks titled ‘Crocodile Teeth’, ‘Fractions’ and ‘Seeing Green which featured her YMCMB family, Drake and Lil Wayne. Nicki Minaj surprised her fans via IG by adding Drake to the live call. During the Live Drake revealed that he was the mastermind behind the record, Seeing Green.
“What made you think that I would sound good on that?” Nicki asked Drizzy. He answers with a smile, “I mean, it was just…can I say who else is on it or no?” Nicki said she wanted to keep it a surprise. “Okay, alright. Well, it’d just been a really long time since—it was just, it didn’t feel right with you not being on it,” said Drake. “That’s the best way I could put it. Like, it was fun the other way, but it’s epic this way.”
“So, we just…you know I had some real heart-to-hearts with you lately, just about the fact that it’s like, it’s just your world. Nobody does this sh*t better than you,” he added, mentioning that he gets that right now her priority is her son. “When you’re gone, I’m not gon’ lie, I’m trying to speak for everybody. We really miss you. We really miss your presence. We miss the bars. We miss the excitement that you bring.”
During the live video, Nicki openly admitted that she has been suffering from writers block and drake shared how he has been pressuring Nicki to get back to her pen game. The two rappers have plans to meet up eventually to work and discuss new music.
