Last year was a big year for hip-hop music. Artist such as Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Drake, Da Baby, Doja Cat and Roddy Ricch all dominated the Billboard Hot 100 music chart in 2020. During the trying times of coronavirus, rap artist found themselves in the best creative position possible. Bringing us nothing but fire all year long!
1.Cardi B feat. Megan Thee Stallion “WAP”
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have both dominated the hip-hop genre on the charts for some time now. Although individually both women are killing the game, it wasn’t until the release of their joint project “WAP” that earned them the rights to be placed amongst the top songs of 2020.
The song quickly became #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart while also stirring up a lot of drama surrounding political views.
2. Da Baby Feat. Roddy Ricch “Rockstar”
Da baby released “rockstar” back on April 17, 2020 as the second single from DaBaby’s third studio album Blame It on Baby. The song spent seven non-consecutive weeks at number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
3.Drake “Toosie Slide”
The Champaign Papi himself had everybody dancing during the Pandemic when he hit us with the “Toosie Slide.” The song was released as his lead single on April 3, 2020 through Republic and OVO.
The song became a huge moment during quarantine as millennials took to social media to do the “Toosie Slide” through Tik Tok virtual videos. This song made Drake the first male artist to accomplish three number-one debuts.
4. Megan Thee Stallion “ Body”
Drake wasn’t the only one dropping heat that made everyone want to dance. the Houston hot girl had all the hotties dancing when she released her single “Body” off of her 2020 project “Good News.” This is definitely one to add to your playlist. Imagine working out To this banger!
5. Roddy Ricch “ The Box”
Roddy Ricch started of the year 2020 with a Big Bang when he released his single “The Box” which conquered the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 11weeks. The song surpassed 1 billion streams on
Spotify and landed the rapper a fistful of Grammy nominations for next years event.
6.Lil Baby “ The Bigger Picture”
Lil baby started a conversation in 2020 around the Black Lives Matter movement when he released the track “ The Bigger Picture.” The song shared the artist thoughts and wisdom during a national crisis, fans took comfort in that. An iconic moment for hip-hop culture.
7. Jack Harlow “ What’s Poppin”
You can’t talk about the top 10 songs and not mention “what’s poppin” by Jack Harlow. According to Billboard, it was one of the most enjoyable songs that came out last year.
8. Pop Smoke feat. Lil Tjay “Mood Swings”
The vibes were verified the moment pop smoke asked “Oh, you ain’t know I could sing?” The rap artist shook up the scene with his vocals on the rhythmic sex jam “Mood Swings.”
9.Future feat. Drake “Life is Good”
Hopefully you didn’t miss the collaboration between these two hitmakers back in January of last year. The song debut as NO.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and solidified its place there for 8 weeks.
10. Megan Thee Stallion feat. Beyoncé “Savage” remix
Queen B and the hot girl herself teamed up for the collaboration of the year between the two Texas natives. The song started to receive major impact through streams and radio play. The song also started a virtual Tik Tok dance that made quarantine a tad less miserable.
